Southern Bethesda Pool Care
Southern Bethesda Pool Service Near the River and the Trails
The Art of Complete Pool Care
Your pool should be the easiest part of your property. We keep it that way with steady, dependable care year after year.
Pool Care From Wood Acres to Brookmont
Southern Bethesda, in the 20816 ZIP code, runs from Wood Acres and Westmoreland Hills down toward the Potomac River. It includes Glen Echo Heights, Sumner, Mohican Hills and Brookmont. The Capital Crescent Trail, the C&O Canal and Glen Echo Park are all close. So are the shops at Sangamore and Westbard Square.
Streams here flow toward the Potomac, so how you drain a pool matters. Montgomery County’s guidelines say water sent to a storm drain or stream must have no more than 0.1 ppm of chlorine. The pH must be between 6 and 9, and cyanuric acid can’t top 100 mg/L. The water should look clear. If you drain onto your yard, let it run slowly so it soaks in.
That’s important for liner swaps and replastering, which both need an empty pool. PoolTek has done that work in Montgomery County since 1986. Explore our pool services.
What We Do for Southern Bethesda Pool Owners
These are the jobs we see most in older, tree-lined neighborhoods.
- Gunite renovations: New plaster, tile and coping by our in-house masons.
- Leak detection: We find leaks in plumbing, skimmers, lights and fittings.
- Openings and closings: Packages from a basic startup to our Gold Opening and Full Closing.
- Weekly maintenance: Full Service, Tek Service or every-other-week visits.
- Water testing and treatment: Balanced water protects your liner, plaster and equipment.
Why Southern Bethesda Homeowners Choose PoolTek
One local review of another pool company described a pool that looked clean while the water balance was off. Clean water and balanced water aren’t the same thing.
On every visit, we test pH, Total Alkalinity and Calcium Hardness, then check the chlorine. Balanced water stays clear longer and is easier on your liner or plaster.
Frequently Asked Questions
Find quick answers to the most common questions about our pool service, repairs and renovations.
Can I drain my pool into the storm drain on my street?
Only if the water meets county limits. Storm drains flow straight to streams. Chlorine must be at or below 0.1 ppm and pH between 6 and 9 before the water goes anywhere near one.
Does a community pool need a permit to drain?
Yes, in most cases. Community pools and swim clubs that discharge to a storm drain or stream need a General Discharge Permit from the Maryland Department of the Environment. Pools that serve fewer than four homes don’t.
